Our History

On a brisk day in September 1958, 29 people gathered at a house on Park Street in Hinsdale and made a
commitment to start a Methodist Church. A few months later, in January 1959, the church was chartered
with 104 persons joining. The church continued to grow, and the first Sanctuary was consecrated in April
1963. The stunningly beautiful new Sanctuary with large windows and inclusive semi-circular seating
layout was dedicated on December 4, 2005, welcoming worshipers into God’s love and light, grace and
 glory.

Our Mission

We seek to love God and love EVERYONE. We commit to follow Jesus in word and action. We care for our community and congregation with Christ’s love and grace as our example.

What We Believe:

+ We believe every person is a unique child of God.

+ We believe God brings creation into being and saves us from the power of sin and death.

+ We believe in the church as the beloved community responding to the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a deep commitment to service and mission.

+ We believe the Bible is inspired by God, revealing God’s purpose and will for the world.

+ We believe in the final triumph of God’s reign of love and peace

All are Welcome

Every person is welcome – people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic status, or special needs – people of all gifts and talents – everyone! We offer an inclusive faith home for all people seeking a spiritual journey. We grow together in God’s love by participating in worship, learning, and mission. Wherever you are on your faith journey, please join us in God’s work.

Baptism

In baptism, our congregation welcomes their newest members, and renews their covenant to live a life of discipleship. For this reason, baptisms cannot be private. Recognizing the grace of God living in each new-born baby, we celebrate infant baptism, as well as adult baptism. Together as the baptized — the Church of all ages, nations, and races — we commit to walking in the way that leads to the true and abundant life God offers. Click to learn more on baptism.

Holy Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion during worship on the first Sunday each month. Both pre-packaged individual kits and traditional bread and cup are available. There are no conditions for church membership or a minimum age requirement. We practice an Open Table, which means all believers are invited and welcome. For those who wish to receive communion at different times and places, please contact the church office.
