BOXES AVAILABLE SUN NOV 10 / HAM DONATIONS ONLINE
At Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas the HUMC congregation collects 24 boxes of food and 24 five-pound hams to be distributed by Olivet UMC to the people of their neighborhood in West Garfield Park on Chicago’s West Side.
Thanksgiving Food Boxes
The Thanksgiving Food Boxes will be available for pick up in the Narthex beginning Sunday, November 10. Please take and fill a box with the groceries suggested on the label; these include staples like white rice, dried beans, flour, sugar, cooking oil, breakfast cereals, canned soups, canned vegetables, fresh fruit and veggies that do not require refrigeration, and some Thanksgiving treats. Please return the filled box to the Narthex no later than Friday November 22.
Hinsdale United Women in Faith encourages the congregation to purchase and use a gift card from one of the grocery stores to buy the groceries to fill their Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes. Doing this will support both UWF and the food box missions.
Ham Donations
Missions Committee has arranged to purchase all the hams. Ham donations will be collected through the HUMC website using the donations process which has been in use at HUMC for the past few years (make ham donations through the button below). The cost to donate a ham is $15.25. Anyone needing assistance to make the online donation can contact Dan Irwin.
The food boxes and hams will be delivered to Olivet November 23.
