Worship leaders often ask for folks to witness, to stand up for what they believe. Families and interested members of Hinsdale UMC are invited to a prayer vigil for immigration justice at the Broadview Detention Center on Friday, January 6 at 7:15 a.m.
There we will witness families whose parent will be deported that day. The children and spouses rely on the prayers and support of caring people, including us from the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith communities.
Leaders on both sides of the political aisle seem to agree that the current immigration system fails to serve the cause of justice and often does real harm to individuals and their families in this country. Scripture calls people of faith to care for and about the stranger and the sojourner in our midst.
