As an update on DuPage PADS during this time, the program currently has 119 clients in 3 sites (one-third of which are under 18). For safety reasons, the clients are in motel rooms, though they anticipate having to expand to three additional church sites in the coming months. As you can imagine, the need for both food and housing will continue to grow in the coming months.
The Health Department will not currently allow us to prepare home cooked meals. Therefore, DuPage PADS is asking we provide immediate donations of frozen or prepackaged, commercially prepared meals for the PADS' clients. Hinsdale UMC will be partnering with other area churches to provide approximately 120 meals. We estimate the cost of 60 meals to be approximately $300 each month. This will be an ongoing need for the fall and winter months.
In November, a few HUMC members visited two of the motel shelter sites, delivering meals to 95 guests. This month, the number of guests has increased to 144. While the PADS program has been able to move many groups into more permanent housing, families continue to be displaced. During these unprecedented circumstances, we are extremely grateful for your continued support of this mission. We will be collecting monetary donations and then purchasing the meals at the most economical price. Please click the link below to donate to this important mission to provide meals for the homeless. Thank you for your support of this important mission!
