At Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas the HUMC congregation has traditionally collected 24 boxes of food and 24 five-pound hams to be distributed by Olivet UMC to the people of their neighborhood in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side. In the last few years we have also given a box of food and a ham to the Bridge Communities family that is sponsored by HUMC. This Easter it will not be possible to collect food for distribution by Olivet. However, we know that the need is even greater than normal. 

The Missions Committee has determined that we can still fulfill our mission with Olivet and to our Bridge family by providing them with a Jewel Gift Card rather than a box of food. We think a $80 gift card will approximate the value of the food that is included in the average food box and the cost of a ham.

Those who wish to participate in this important mission can do so by making a donation below. This system is completely safe; none of the information you enter on the form will leave HUMC except that required to verify your payment information with the card issuer (like any online transaction.) 

Our goal is to collect 25 gift cards. You may donate half of the gift card ($40) or the full amount ($80). Once you have completed the form below, click SUBMIT at the bottom of the form. You will receive an email from HUMC confirming your donation.
