Our Mission Statement:
The Hinsdale United Methodist Church is an open, Christian community, demonstrating love in action. Every person is welcome at Hinsdale United Methodist Church – people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic status, special needs – people of all gifts and talents – everyone! We offer a faith home for people seeking a spiritual journey. We grow together in God’s love by participating in worship, learning, and mission. Wherever you are on your life’s path, please join us in God’s work.
We seek to make HUMC a welcoming place for all God’s children to love God and to love their neighbors. We seek to embrace new ways of experiencing God’s presence in worship, while being faithful to our traditions. We are devoted to spiritual formation and life-long learning. We offer quality educational opportunities for all ages that learning may shape our lives and faith. In response to God’s love and grace in our lives, we are a community deeply committed to service and mission.
We seek to serve others through our strong involvement in a number of programs. We are privileged to be apart of Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS), where we serve the homeless of our community by providing shelter and a hot, home cooked meal once a month. We also financially support and mentor homeless families in DuPage County through the Bridge Communities program, which provides transitional housing and resources to assist families in getting back on their feet. We are participants in the national Rebuilding Together program and send volunteers to renovate homes of those in need in Chicagoland area. We celebrate mutual ministry projects with our sister UMC congregations in Chicago, Olivet United Methodist Church. We are honored to serve as disciples seeking to live the mission of Christ in the world through these programs and many others.
We seek to be a faith home where all can engage in these faith practices of worship, mission, and service and education.
