We normally offer services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Join us for Online Worship until we are able to safely open our building again for our staff, visitors, and the community.
In worship we celebrate the good news of God’s grace in Jesus Christ that brings hope to our lives and defines who we are. We follow a United Methodist liturgical tradition but also make room for the surprises of the Spirit. Belford Hernandez, Director of Music, is the accompanist and often shares his talents as a composer.
Children are always welcome in worship.
Our summer schedule (Memorial Day through Labor Day) is one service at 9:30 a.m.
Where do I park?
There are two parking lots and church entrances – one is on the west side of the building and is accessed from Garfield Street. Designated visitor spaces are available in this lot. The other entrance is on the east side of the building and is accessed from Park Ave. Handicap parking spaces are available in both lots.
Where do I go when I get there?
People meet and greet one another before and after the service in the Narthex (the church lobby), which is accessed from both parking lots. Greeters and ushers will assist you at either door. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Center in the Narthex where you can pick up church information and receive a welcome gift.
Where do my children go during worship?
We welcome all children in worship! Children’s activity bags are provided to keep the children engaged during services in the Sanctuary. The bags include stickers, crayons, Bible games, and stories. They can be picked up at the Welcome Center or you can ask for one from an usher.
For infants through age three, we have nursery services available. Nursery services are available September through May from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and during the Summer months of June, July, and August from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Children in Preschool to 5th grade are invited to stay in worship. Our Children Ministry Program is also offered to children in Preschool through 5th grade during the 8:30 a.m. worship service and after children time during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Sunday School provides Christian education for children from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Our summer 9:30 a.m. worship schedule offers children the opportunity to attend Summer Sunday School following the Children’s sermon. Will I be singled out as a guest?
You are not asked to stand or speak during the services, but our hope is that you experience the welcome and hospitality of our congregation. Please provide your name and contact information on the registration pads in the pews if you wish to receive information about the programs of the church.
May I participate in communion?
In our Wesleyan tradition we practice an open table which means that communion is offered to all. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at both services. Our communion wafers are free of the following ingredients: gluten, wheat, casein, dairy, nut, egg, corn, yeast, soy, low protein.
Is the church handicap accessible?
HUMC is wheelchair accessible with an elevator which gives access to the basement and upper level offices and classrooms. We have fully accessible washrooms, just inside the east entrance across from the sanctuary. Handicap parking spaces are available in both the north and east parking lots.
