Jonathan Cox

Jonathan is a 23-year-old aspiring UMC Elder from Council Bluffs, Iowa. He is pursuing a Ministry calling after many years inside and outside the Church, from high school to graduate school. After graduating high school, he pursued this calling by studying Religion at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, with a minor in Public Relations.

Jonathan graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 2021, where his ministry calling continued to expand. During his time at Simpson College, he was also able to become an official UMC Certified Candidate. Jonathan was inspired to study at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary to earn his Master of Divinity, focusing on Congregational Leadership, and is currently in his 2nd year.

Jonathan also enjoys cooking, baking, reading, and spending as much time with his family in his spare time.

Jonathan has worked in various ministry settings during his time at Simpson College. He was deeply involved in working in the chapel as a part of the Religious Life Community. His roles included work-study, intern, Vice President, and a mentor in the Simpson Youth Academy. He has also served as an intern at several Iowa Churches. One of Jonathan's favorite ministry settings was serving at the Wesley Woods Camp and Retreat Center. His roles included serving as a camp counselor, Packout Coordinator, and Chapel Coordinator. In addition to working at Hinsdale UMC, Jonathan currently serves as a Front Desk Assistant at Garrett and serves this summer as a Student Ambassador. Jonathan is very excited to meet the community at Hinsdale United Methodist Church and to learn more about how to show the world that God is still alive and working in all of us.
