BENEFITING THE HINSDALE UMC/BRIDGE PARTNERSHIP
Our fundraiser on Sunday, September 25 at 11am, will raise money to continue our ministry with Bridge Communities. Bridge Communities has a successful 30 years+ history of transitioning homeless families to self-sufficiency.


First, we would like you to consider donating a service or item that could be part of our auction event. Examples are the use of a vacation home, tickets to a sporting event or concert, a dinner at your home, hosting a golf outing or any special item that you believe would generate bidding interest. You can use the online form lower on this page. Please let us know if you can contribute an item as soon as practical and no later than Sunday August 21 so we can prepare the auction booklets and include in our marketing materials.


Second, please attend the event and invite your friends and neighbors. At only $15/ticket (children 12 and under are free), it is a great way to entertain and make a difference to a critical mission. We will start selling tickets by the end of July—so, please add Sunday, September 25th to your calendar (11am-2pm right after church) and begin to invite friends for your table.


HUMC'S ROLE IN THE BRIDGE COMMUNITIES PARTNERSHIP

We have supported Bridge as a “program partner” for over 20 years. HUMC provides two critical ingredients that are the cornerstone of the Bridge model. First, we have a mentor team (generally three people) that meets with the family weekly to help them develop the life skills necessary to obtain and maintain the goal of self-sufficiency. Second, we provide the funding to allow the family to live in a Bridge apartment and contribute to a portion of the cost for the services provided by Bridge. The funding provided by HUMC amounts to $12,000 annually. 


The funding for this critical mission is raised by this event. We have an event every three years (delayed by COVID). So, we are hopeful to raise a minimum of $36,000 to allow us to fund three years of support. This is a major undertaking and requires the help of everyone to make this a success. From a service/item donation, to attending and generously bidding during the event to making a gift. With your help, we can continue this critical mission to transform the lives of families from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Thank you for your support and generosity!

Tickets are now available for purchase for our Bridge, Brunch, and Jazz Fundraiser Event benefiting HUMC's partnership with Bridge Communities. Tickets for the September 25 event are $15 per adult or teen (kids under 12 are free).
