Hinsdale UMC welcomes Lori Slaymaker Stahulak as our Student Seminarian. Lori is currently a student at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary pursing a Masters of Divinity with the intention of becoming a pastor. Her area of concentration is spiritual direction.
Lori graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She completed her Internship at Dwight Correctional Center for women. Prior to attending seminary her work experiences included being a Juvenile Probation Officer for DuPage County, a Saint Charles Park District Youth Manager, and an Assistant Account Representative with Champion and Undermour college spirit wear. In addition she is a wife and mother of two children. Her daughter, Emily, who graduated from Taylor University, is teaching in the inner-city of Muncie, Indiana. Her son, Grant, is a senior at Iowa State University. Her husband, Mike, owns his own business and is an avid runner.
Lori’s outside interests include being a watercolor artist, writer, gardener, and foodie.
Lori says, “What I have learned on my journey is that the imprisoned heart can be transformed by Jesus Christ. My desire is to help people to be fully engaged in the life that God has created them to be!”
