Worship

Worship on Sunday Mornings

September through May
We offer services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. In worship we celebrate the good news of God’s grace in Jesus Christ that brings hope to our lives and defines who we are. We follow a United Methodist liturgical tradition but also make room for the surprises of the Spirit. Belford Hernandez, Director of Music, is the accompanist and often shares his talents as a composer.

Children are always welcome in worship. Children in preschool to 5th grade are invited to stay in worship, or participate in the children’s time during the 8:30 service or immediately after the children’s sermon at the 10:30 service. All children are welcomed to Sunday School from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Nursery Care for infants through age 3 is also available.

Summer Worship
During the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day), our service time is 9:30 a.m. Summer hour worship schedule will begin on Sunday, May 28, 2017 and continue through Sunday, September 3, 2017.

Children are always welcome in worship. Children in preschool to 5th grade are invited to stay in worship, or participate in the Sunday School immediately after the children’s sermon at the 9:30 a.m. service.

Announcements

congregation in sanctuaryOn Sunday during our worship services we begin our service with a time of “Announcements.”  Here we tell each other the life of the community within HUMC.

Holy Communion

In our Wesleyan tradition we practice an open table which means that communion is offered to all.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at both services. Our communion wafers are free of the following ingredients: gluten, wheat, casein, dairy, nut, egg, corn, yeast, soy, low protein.

Ministry with Seminary Students

HUMC and Rev. McCoy share a commitment to preparing young men and women for ordained ministry. We take this process of supporting the next generation of clergy as an important ministry.  Seminarians are invited to participate and lead in all aspects of worship and community life.
