Programs & ActivitiesThe United Methodist Church of Hinsdale is A PLACE TO SERVE.
Our church is committed to a ministry that reaches out to our community and beyond through the PADS ministry providing shelter and meals to the homeless; the STRAWBERRY 'STRAVAGANZA, an outreach festival to the community in early June; after school tutoring with inner city youth; ASP - home repair with Appalachian families; and BRIDGE COMMUNITIES, a transitional housing ministry helping homeless families get back on their feet again.
The United Methodist Church of Hinsdale is A PLACE TO GROW IN SERVICE.
Whatever your gift, whether it be in music, teaching, care-giving, or anything else..HUMC welcomes your active participation in our current and expanding ministries:
SUNDAY SCHOOL - A time of learning and growing in the Christian faith with classes for children, youth, and adults 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Click here for Christian Education class descriptions.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - A one week summer adventure offered to children pre-school through 5th grade. Contact the church office for schedule.
STEPHEN MINISTRY - Equips people to provide one-to-one Christ-centered care for those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances. Caring for people through people.
MUSIC MINISTRY - We are able to offer a wide range of music through our many choirs and special music opportunities. We have vocal and bell choirs open to youth and adults.
YOUTH MINISTRY - Ministry to youth is high on our list of priorities. With faith as the foundation, the mission of the youth ministry is to develop faith, strengthen relationships, participate in mission and service efforts, learn how to be leaders and increase their connection to the church and the community. This is accomplished through regular Sunday meetings for both Jr. High and Sr. High throughout the school year; weekend retreats two to three times a year; and small groups who meet together for one year with a youth counselor to discuss pertinent topics. We feel it is important to incorporate fellowship into the mix of these activities. It not only allows members to have a great time with each other, but it makes it much more inviting for new people to join the group. Some of the activities include skiing, hiking, and creating talent shows for the church.
For more information call Angela Adolf, Youth Director, at the church. (630) 325-1280 or email her through the "contact us" link on the home page menu.
PRESCHOOL & PARENT'S DAY OUT - The purpose of the Preschool and Parent's Day Out program is to support the growth of the young child within a Christian family. Our program is designed to develop the social, intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of each child through experiences that develop a positive self-image and strong self-esteem. The program is open to all children. A diverse environment, culturally, ethnically, and economically benefits all children. Scholarship assistance is available.
For more information call the Program Office at (630) 323-3228.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN - Our church enjoys an active unit of over one hundred women who meet regularly through circle groups on the second Thursday of every month. They support mission efforts locally and worldwide through special events like the fall and spring resale. Fellowship activites like the mother/daughter banquet, Lenten Brunch, and fall retreat help members to fulfill the stated purpose of membership, which is to be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
