United Methodist Women

Membership in the Hinsdale United Methodist Women is open to all women interested in fellowship and Christ’s call to mission.  HUMW enjoys an active unit of over one hundred women who meet regularly through small groups called circles.   Circle members develop close relationships with each other, praying for and nurturing each other.  Women may also be general members.These women collectively support UMW by making a pledge and helping with overall activities.

HUMW supports mission efforts locally and worldwide through personal pledges and special events like the Fall resale and gift card sales. Read about our “Days for Girls” mission project.

Fellowship activities like the UMW Sunday All-Church Potluck Lunch, Lenten Brunch, and Graduation Reception help members to fulfill the stated purpose of membership, which is to be a community of women whose purpose is threefold:

1)  To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;

2)  To develop a creative, supportive fellowship;

3)  To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Circles meet the second Thursday of the month September through May.  All women are encouraged to join one of our three circle groups:

Mary Circle – Named for Mary, the mother of Jesus.  Meets at 9:00 a.m. in members’ homes for light refreshments and business meeting followed by a program.  Childcare is available upon request.

Priscilla Circle – Named for a missionary.  Meets at 1:00 at the church for dessert and business meeting followed by a program.

Lydia Circle – Named for Lydia, a Christian business woman.  Meets at 7:00 p.m. in members’ homes for a business meeting and program followed by dessert.
